Replacement of the roof of the montreal olympic stadium

The roof of the Montreal Olympic Stadium must be replaced to restore the full functionality of this Quebec landmark and transform it into a premier event venue. With an estimated total cost of $870 million, this ambitious project includes the installation of a fixed, rigid roof enhanced with a transparent glass ring, a tribute to the vision of its original architect, Roger Taillibert. The project also involves dismantling the existing roof and replacing the technical ring. Once completed, it will strenghten the Stadium’s ability to host major events and boost the tourism and economic vitality of Montreal's east end.

BFS contribution

  • Facilitation of “collaborative” risk analysis between the project owner and contractor, fostering open sharing of cost overrun risks and cost-saving opportunities
  • Establishment of risk profiles for each component of the project, including dismantling of the existing roof and construction of the new roof
  • Identification of risk response plans and quantification of mitigation measures
  • Quantitative risk analysis and Monte Carlo simulation for determination of a joint risk reserve
  • Neutral and independent advisory support for structuring equitable risk-sharing between owner and contractor, enabling contract finalization
